If you're working on a serif project then try using Proxima Nova or Georgia. Other good fonts for serif include Lucida Grande, Gill Sans, Helvetica, Brandon Grotesque, FF Meta Serif Web Pro, Avenir, FF Tisa, zurichbt, Galaxie, Harriet Display, Open Sans and Trilogy Sans.
